# LostInNotes > LostInNotes is an AI-native note-taking app: capture notes as text, voice or images and > search them by meaning (semantic vector search), not just keywords. It also exposes a > remote Model Context Protocol (MCP) server so external AI assistants can save notes to a > user's account and search them — turning LostInNotes into a shared "second brain" for > any MCP-capable client. ## Model Context Protocol (MCP) LostInNotes provides a remote MCP server over streamable HTTP. Any MCP client (claude.ai and ChatGPT connectors, Claude Code, Claude Desktop, Cursor, Gemini CLI, the Claude API MCP connector, …) can connect. - Endpoint: https://lostinnotes.com/mcp/ - Transport: streamable HTTP - Auth (either): - OAuth 2.1 with PKCE and Dynamic Client Registration. Discovery starts from the 401 challenge (`resource_metadata`) or https://lostinnotes.com/.well-known/oauth-protected-resource/mcp; authorization server metadata at https://lostinnotes.com/.well-known/oauth-authorization-server. The user signs in and picks the scope (read-only or read+write, all notebooks or an allowlist). This is how claude.ai / ChatGPT custom connectors connect — no token to paste. - Personal Access Token sent as `Authorization: Bearer `, generated in the app under "Integration / MCP". MCP access is a Premium feature. - Tools: create_note, search_notes (snippets), get_note (full note as Markdown), update_note, append_to_note, list_notebooks, create_notebook, rename_notebook, delete_notebook. Notes can carry images (returned as short-lived signed URLs) and belong to notebooks. Destructive actions are limited: no note deletion, and only empty notebooks can be deleted. - claude.ai / ChatGPT: add a custom connector with the endpoint URL and sign in. - Claude Code setup: `claude mcp add --transport http lostinnotes https://lostinnotes.com/mcp/` (then authenticate via `/mcp`), or with a token: `claude mcp add --transport http lostinnotes https://lostinnotes.com/mcp/ --header "Authorization: Bearer "` - Once connected, the server advertises its own usage instructions and tool schemas via the MCP `initialize` and `tools/list` calls — no external API docs are required. ## Docs - Guide (how it works, incl. the MCP integration): https://lostinnotes.com/en/guide/ - Privacy policy: https://lostinnotes.com/privacy-policy/ - Terms of service: https://lostinnotes.com/terms-of-service/ ## Product - Home: https://lostinnotes.com/
